Samsung Refrigerator Water Filter Compatibility Finder

Buying the wrong Samsung water filter wastes money and, in some models, can damage the dispenser system if it doesn’t seat correctly. FilterFitNow verifies your match against manufacturer specs and cross-reference data — not just similar-looking part numbers.
Find Your Samsung Filter
Use the Refrigerator Water Filter Compatibility Finder → and enter your Samsung model number or existing filter code — Samsung is one of the five brands the tool covers.
Have a HAF-QIN or DA97-17376B filter instead of DA29-00020B/DA29-00003G? See our dedicated HAF-QIN compatibility guide →.

Where to Buy These Filters
Once you have matched your code above, these are the Swift Green equivalents we have cross-referenced for each one — the links below are affiliate links that earn us a commission at no added cost to you, and this never affects which filter we recommend. Swift Green is an aftermarket brand rather than Samsung OEM, which is fine on Samsung fridges because they use a mechanical fit and a simple time-based reminder, with no chip authentication to satisfy. Check the code printed on your existing filter against the code in the link before ordering.
- DA29-00020B (HAF-CIN/EXP, most French-door models) → Swift Green SGF-DA20B
- DA29-00003G (HAF-CU1, older French-door and side-by-side) → Swift Green SGF-DSB30
- DA97-17376B / HAF-QIN (RF23M, RF28R, RF28T, RS27T, RS28A series) → Swift Green SGF-HAFQIN Rx
Samsung OEM cartridges are also sold under these same part numbers if you would rather stay with the original brand. We link Swift Green because we have verified the cross-reference ourselves; we have not verified every OEM reseller.
How We Verify Compatibility
We only confirm a match after checking it against three sources:
- Manufacturer documentation and part-fitment specs
- Compatibility lists published by filter makers and retailers
- User-reported data, validated against the other two
If the sources conflict, we flag the match as unverified rather than publish uncertain information. See our full verification approach →
How Do You Replace a Samsung Refrigerator Water Filter?
Locate the filter inside the fridge compartment or in the base grille, twist it a quarter turn to release, insert the new filter, and flush several gallons before drinking.
- Locate the filter housing — typically inside the refrigerator compartment, upper right or lower grille depending on model.
- Turn the filter a quarter-turn counterclockwise to release it.
- Remove the old filter and note the code printed on it to confirm your replacement matches.
- Insert the new filter and turn a quarter-turn clockwise until it locks.
- Run water through the dispenser for 2–3 minutes to clear air and carbon fines before drinking.
- Reset the filter indicator light per your model’s reset procedure.
Frequently Asked Questions
How often should I replace my Samsung water filter?
Every 6 months for most models, or sooner if water flow noticeably slows or the indicator light signals a change.
What’s the difference between DA29-00020B and DA29-00003G?
DA29-00020B (also sold as HAF-CIN/EXP) is the current-generation filter, fitting most French-door and side-by-side Samsung refrigerators in the RF23–RF31 and RS25/RS27 series (e.g. RF28HFEDBSR, RF25HMEDBSR, RS25J500DSR). DA29-00003G (also sold as HAF-CU1) is the older, round-style filter for earlier French-door and side-by-side models in the RF26/RF267, RFG237/RFG297, and RSG257/RS27 series (e.g. RF267AERS, RFG297AARS, RSG257AARS). The two are not interchangeable — check the code on your existing filter or your model number against the table above before ordering.
Can I use a non-Samsung filter?
Compatible third-party filters exist, but fit and filtration performance vary. We only confirm a match when it passes our verification process — see above.
Why is my filter light still on after replacing it?
Most models need a manual reset after a filter change — check your model’s reset procedure (usually a button hold or menu option on the display panel).
Is a compatible filter as good as an OEM filter?
Filtration performance depends on the specific product, not just the “compatible” label. We verify fit and published certification, not independent lab testing.
Where is the filter located on my model?
Location varies — most Samsung fridges house it inside the refrigerator compartment (upper right) or behind the lower grille. Use the model lookup tool above to confirm for your specific unit.
